Charged me $283 to adjust the spring tension on my garage door, that took him no more than 5 minutes. He spent the most time trying to get me to replace the door wheels and install a new opener, even though they were working fine! I had used Precision to replace my door springs in 2021, I will seek garage door services elsewhere.

Our garage door was getting stuck at a fixed location while opening. I contacted Precision Door service and was told that a tech would come between 12-4 pm. The tech, Paul Brinkman, came after 5:30 pm. He told that the two springs and 3 bearings need to be replaced and would cost $1031.66. This would normally have cost much less than even half of this amount. However, since I had already waited long enough, I just wanted to be over with the repair... But a relatively very expensive service certainly! Ramesh Sharma

I purchased a $3,000 garage door opener with new springs and included a warranty for three years . We called to get a few items fixed under warranty . The person arrived and spent 45 minutes lubricating the channel and getting the key pad to work . No materials were needs . He presented a $250 bill which my wife had to pay . We are rejecting this charge as no one explained this when we made the call therefore we reject this charge

This is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. The tech inspected the garage door and gave three options in the order of cost that would require to fix it. He could not provide the exact reason for the malfunctioning of the door. First option he gave had a quick change of programming required which he boasted as if the door is going to require a lot of effort and time to fix it. He spent less than 10 minutes in reprogramming and charged $335 for this. Extremely disappointed by this and would not recommend your company to anyone. I’m also going to post a public review.

Very very expensive and up sell by the company. I had my torsion spring to be replaced and they suggested adding a few more things such as cable, drums, rollers, center plate etc. I agreed since I thought it was good to have it anyway. The quote came out at 1600+.! It was pretty high I thought but didn't do a check to see what it costs since I thought the company was honest based on the 5 star reviews in Google. But soon after the work started, I did a quick online search for the part cost and also read many Yelp reviews and was shocked to see how much these people over charge customers. Overall parts cost for fairly higher end parts comes out a little under 300 dollars. Adding an hour of labor, it should have been in the ball park of 500 dollars. Whereas the company charged 3x. A total rip-off and I greatly repent my decision of going ahead without doing a bit of diligence . Suggest others to be aware of what you get into with this company.

Terrible experience! Stay away from Paulino M and this company. I could barely understand what he was talking about. He made a poor problem diagnosis and suggested replacing the springs, rollers, pulleys, and wires to fix my garage door problem. After I paid him $1700, the door could not close. He told me then that I need to replace the opener and left me with the problems that he did not diagnose at the beginning. So I paid for the things that were totally unnecessary. He is using his hammer loosely, hit the door trim twice unnecessarily and broke it. Terrible. Terrible!. How these people qualify to work? Stay away from this place, don't take their quote and diagnosis. Totally unqualified! Zero stars.

Was given estimate for 3/4 hp heavy duty opener installed. Guy from S.J. gave me price of 1499.00. Sounds like bait and switch.

Be aware of their service charge. They said $35 beforehand, but it's actually $69.95. My door is too old to install an opener, and they charged me $69.95 after a few minutes of inspection.

One star--called ahead and arrived within time framework Garage door was opening and closing without any problem. I intended to purchase a new Lift Master, as the one I have cannot read new technology allowing me to program it for my new Lexus. I called and was expecting to pay $614 plus tax and labor to install. The worker would not install the Lift Master without new springs and bearings---cost $1,576.77.

Technician was courteous but trying to sell me snake oil????. Told me that my bearings need replacement because of my failed spring. That's BS. Coated springs? Another upcharge! Oh, my rollers are bad, really? And my opener is old and needs to be looked at? What a croc! $950 estimate for a broken spring? You are out of your f....g mind. Had to pay $70 for telling me this crap? I want my money refunded or I will let Social Media know about your unethical tactics. BTW, had the spring replaced today, $300????.

Terrible experience. First of all, I could barely understand 1/4 of what the tech was saying. Second, he tried to say that EVERYTHING was broken - the garage door opener, the sensors, the spring, the rollers on the actual door. Perhaps I needed a new door too. He asked if I had homeowner's insurance to cover it. Then he pressured me to buy a new opener to the tune of $1,000! I "needed" it and if I didn't do it now, I'd still have to pay the service call. I said I'd gladly pay the fee and find someone else thank you and I did. Nothing wrong but the opener. Replaced it and with installation for a total of $535.

This company ripped me off by replacing a garage door vault lock which took him five minutes to do and then charged me over 343 dollars. The very same part at Home Depot is 12 bucks. Then he tried to sell me things I didn’t need like a complete new opener and door springs. I will never use this company again

I called Precision and scheduled an appointment for my garage door which was operating sluggish. Technician came on time and told me I needed all the hardware on my door needed to be replaced or have a new door installed. I asked the Precision technician if the door springs could be wound up a bit more to help out the door in the opening mode. The technician declined. The cost of the door hardware replacement was $1600.00 and a new door was $3200.00. After sleeping on this garage door issue, I called another business, which I've used before to take a look at my door. They came, wound both door springs, lubricated the screw drive shaft and the screw carrier/rails. The garage door opened and closed like new!

This was a bait and switch scam. The claim their trip/service fees are low but then charged another $99 for a five minute programming fee for my elderly mother’s garage door opener. Will never recommend this company to anyone!!

This is the most shady business i've dealt with so far 60+ years in my life. the guy Sheridan Abad came to give an estimate to fix the door that fell off the roller but insisted that the door is no good, unfixable, had to dismantle it and rebuild the whole thing for a cost of $2046.53! he said he was generous and would even give a $25 discount on this and took $49.95 to give such an advice and quote. this is all in spite of the fact i convinced him the door came off the roller and just needed the pulley/drum to be reengaged. well, i just called another garage door repair and he came and put it back for $153.00 and even adjusted the spring tension for free. i'm not sure why you guys are in the business trying hard to rip off even knowledgable customers. don't know how may naive customers fell a prey for you to build your empire that definitely you don't deserve. looks like i HAVE to give at least one star to complete this or the system won't take the feedback, else i really wanted to give NEGATIVE 5 stars on your work.

short story: If there was negative 5 stars I would use that: I had rather unusual design and I shared that when calling up for the service. They confirmed that side mounted garage door motors had been seen before and are not a problem at all. I needed to fix broken spring. - The technician was on-time and initially friendly. Thats where the good things end, - The technician offered three options for my review: - Option 1: $1006 includes replacement of 2 springs, pulleys, and cables - Option 2: $1357 (if I remember right) would inllude something else - Option 3: $1536 (if I remember right) would include some more stuff I invite you to call around and figure out if these are fair prices to resolve broken garage spring problem. Then the technician went on to criticize the size and gage of the hinges. then we went on to criticize the location and installation of the motor. The motor was there for more then 20 years and was just fine, by the way. After briefly trying to disassemble the mechanism that connects motor to the bar, he said that it takes too much time. Unless I pay for anther one hour, he would leave. At that point I got no choice. Apparently, the charge of almost $400 for replacing 2 springs are not enough to cover additional 10 minutes to do the job right. I give you a couple more facts that will help you to decide the quality of work: = The technician tried to force the bolt with messed up thread in.. I had to ask for a new bolt,. = The motor is connected to the bar via a toothwheel and bicycle chain. The technician used a screwdriver and hammer to knock the chain off the toothwheel. That is a sure way to destroy the chain and mess up the toothwheel. Now you have similar info as I wish I had before inviting the tech. Net out: Good part: The garage door opens now. It also closes. It was done in one day, so I only had to take off once. It was $535,. Ugly part: Watching the chain being kicked with the screwdriver and bolts with stripped thread forced in makes me sick to the core. I am very concerned that these will cause a long term damage. also, I dont think the technician sprayed joints/cables with Lithium grease to avoid their damage. That is typically done,. Now we do not have urgency, so I have time to reach to my friends and find a garage door tech who is actually carefull and thourough. It will probably cost me another $500 to undo the damage and verify that the bolts are threaded in right, parts are not damaged,... I am ok with doing that. I dont think this review will end up being published, so I will copy it to yelp

I called for a broken spring, and while the Tech. was polite and courteous, the flat rate pricing was excessive. I was quoted $ 1200 plus dollars for this simple repair. I decided not to do the work, and pay the service charge. I found another company who did the repair of 2 springs and 4 track rollers for $ 350.00 on a Sunday.

Would you like to pay $50.00 for someone coming down to tell the quote and not taking their service ? This is what Precision business model does. I got a spring broken and call Precision. One guy came in and tried to convince me that I need to replace everything for $2300+ in total. The same garage door opener is ~300 from Homedepot and they charge ~800. The spring price is ~400 while I got it done at $309 from other company. By the time I have to let Precision's guy go, I realized that I had to pay them $50.00 for their doing nothing but coming down to give me a quote. If you are going to have their business anyway, why do you waste time on reading the reviews here ? If you are just looking for possibilities to have Precision's service, DO NOT CALL them at all !!! Keep in mind that is $50.00 call to get a quote only.

I had asked for a few things in the appointment I made: to help me close my garage door and for a price quote for a new door entirely as the one I currently have is shot. I was excited to have someone come out because it was a safety issue with my door being partially open and I definitely couldn't close it on my own. The woman I spoke to was amazing and helped me immensely. She understood the urgency of my request and got someone over the same day. She said the service to close the garage would be $49.95 but that was half off $24.95 (give or take a few pennies)..... YES! I thought that was a great price considering another company wanted to charge me $65.00. Unfortunately, that's when my great experience ended. The tech who came out to service my garage door and quote me on a new one tried to make me feel as though he was giving me all these great deals. "This is what I'm going to do for you." and so on and so on. My entire appt was like this. The more he talked the more shut down I became. I'm a woman, after all, I'm likely pretty stupid. He quoted me just under $3400.00 for a new door. I told him I couldn't afford that and wanted to look at something cheaper. My request went on deaf ears. He wasn't looking after my best interest but rather he just wanted to push a sale and when I told him I need to get other estimates he wasn't happy. My service fee went from $24.95 to $249.00. WHAT? To shut my garage door? He said if I purchased the door the service would be FREE. Now I'm pissed and want him out of my house. What a huge disappointment with my experience, especially since you are family owned and diamond certified. The end result. The tech was able to shut my door and didn't charge me. I'm not too sure why, but I thanked him and he was on his way. He definitely wasn't happy when he left. He looked more annoyed with me because I didn't order the door.

When i scheduled the appointment i was quoted $299 to replace my broken springs At the time of the appointment I upgraded to the heavier duty springs which increased my cost to $350 than my torsion rod was bad & the bearings needed to be upgraded so now my bill went to $923 with labor & tax. After all the work was done the installer was looking at the door & noticed the bracket that attached the j bar to the motor to the door was cracked & broken also separating from the door which must have happened when the spring broke. So i now need to replace the door after spending $923 i still have a garage door that i cant open. I feel that if the installer would have done an inspection of the door before doing the repair we could have settled the situation with me paying for the service call & not $923.

They sent the technician that day and I was grateful. And they did the good service but as I did not have time to compare service fees I was panicking for the price I paid for this unexpected situation. I was impressed with the owner Pat who has listened to my concern and took a look at my invoice and gave me a discount. More than the discount I was so grateful to be heard. I just saw this email and I can tell that they are conscientious. Ty!

You sent out a man to repair my garage door opener. After examining it thoroughly, he couldn't figure out what the problem was. So I paid him for his time and he left. Now I'm out $49.95 and I don't know any more than I did before he came here. That sucks!
- Clinton Cook
Clinton, Thank you for the feedback.Glad we had a chance to talk. Since it was an electrical issue, not anything to do with your garage door, it was not something we could fix. I was happy to reimburse you the $49.95 service fee given the unique circumstances. Hope it is a quick fix for an electrician.
San Jose, CA
The service and installation is good. But they charge more for the parts.
- Albert Nobal
Albert, Thank you for your feedback. I hope our conversation was helpful. Yes, we do charge more to install the parts than you can buy parts at a store. Our parts are higher quality than those sold in retail stores and many are made especially for Precision Garage Door. Additionally it is quite expensive in California to run a service business that comes to your home. We incur costs for people to answer the phone, training our technicians for months, worker's compensation insurance, payroll taxes, truck expenses, advertising... I am glad your door is working well.

This is the worst experience I have had. If I could give 0 stars I would. I had Precision Garage Door install my garage door. It was quite expensive but I agreed to proceed because the company is advertised as family owned. Now that the battery had to be replaced, I was prepared to do it myself. But when I tried to open the battery box, it looked like the screw had been stripped, probably when it was installed. I was really concerned so I called Precision Garage Door. The woman I spoke to said it would be 50% off $69.95 and that a worker would contact me. Later in the afternoon, I received a telephone call on my landline (which is not my primary line). The worker said he called me 6 times on my cell phone (he did not) and then indicated it would be $200+ a service fee to open the box and put in a battery! He then said I could do it myself by purchasing a Milwaukee 1/4 inch drive to take care of an issue that was caused by the original installer. To add to everything else, he then said he would message me a picture (he did not). If anyone asks me if I could recommend a garage door firm, it certainly will NOT be Precision Garage Door.
